  1. The WolfieNet-Secure wireless network is one of SBU networks available for connecting via WiFi to many of the SBU Campus resources and internet access.  WolfieNet-Secure is the recommended network for all students, faculty, and staff while on campus.  Use your NetID to gain access to this secure network for your personal mobile devices.

     

     

  2. To prevent the inadvertent transfer of sensitive and/or personal data to unauthorized parties, the New York State Office of General Services (NYS-OGS) requires all surplus IT equipment to be cleansed of all data before disposing or repurposing. It is expected that all data be erased from the hard drive (and any other media) in such a manner that it cannot be recovered. Customer Engagement and Support can provide this service on an as-needed basis. It is recommended that when repurposing equipment (e.g. moving machines between personnel or departments), that the machine be cleaned of any University data before the swap.

  3. Admin By Request provides end users a way to request administrator access for their currently logged in user account.  It will allow you to have temporary administrative rights to your workstation, or to just a single application/executable on demand.

  4. Stony Brook has moved from Blackboard to Brightspace. Spring 2023 was the final semester that Blackboard was an option for courses, and Blackboard retired on 10/4/2023.

  9. WolfieNet-Secure is Stony Brook University's recommended wireless network on West Campus, Southampton, Manhattan, and parts of East Campus. It is available to all faculty, students, and staff. New locations continue to be added as wireless technology and equipment continues to be upgraded and enhanced in order to handle the growing number of devices seeking to connect to the network. For visitors to the University, WolfieNet-Guest is the recommended network to use.

  10. Google Chat is a collaborative messaging tool. It allows you to chat, share content, schedule meetings, and more in a shared space with your team or 1-to-1. And all of your teams can have their own chat Spaces, for collaborating on documents and assigning team tasks. You can even create external Rooms to collaborate with people outside Stony Brook.
