  1. Commonly referred to as Echo, Echo360 is a versatile and reliable system that automatically captures lectures and converts classroom voice, video, and visual-aids into high-quality media files. These media files can be accessed online from devices such as tablets, phones, and computers. Instructors can also utilize Universal Capture (Personal), which allows them to record from their own computers.

  2. Yammer is Stony Brook's internal social network. It is an online environment for discussion and conversation. It can help you get work done and support teamwork and collaboration across the institution.

  3. SharePoint Online (or Sites which is part of the University's Office 365 application suite) provides collaborative websites for groups such as research teams, committees, and course-related activities. While DoIT encourages students, faculty, and staff to first investigate Google Drive or Google Sites to handle collaborative projects among teams, SharePoint is certainly a viable alternative.  SharePoint is HIPAA and export compliant.

  4. Network Services provides the cabling infrastructure for the University which serves all voice, data, and television needs. This includes indoor station cabling (jacks) and outdoor, underground feeds.

  5. WolfieNet-Secure is Stony Brook University's recommended wireless network on West Campus, Southampton, Manhattan, and parts of East Campus. It is available to all faculty, students, and staff. New locations continue to be added as wireless technology and equipment continues to be upgraded and enhanced in order to handle the growing number of devices seeking to connect to the network. For visitors to the University, WolfieNet-Guest is the recommended network to use.

  6. Hexagon (HxGN) EAM, (formerly known as Infor EAM) is an Enterprise Asset Management system currently being utilized by Facilities and Services, Environmental Health and Safety and Campus Residences.

  7. WolfieNet-IoT  (IoT = Internet of Things) is a wireless network that should only be used by games and mobile devices that cannot authenticate using the WPA2 Enterprise protocol.

    Stony Brook's virtual private network (VPN) allows access to certain Stony Brook applications, resources, and services from off-campus.   
    NOTE:  The VPN requires a Stony Brook email address and Duo 2-Step login prior to downloading and installing the VPN.

DoIT's TLT Educational Technologies department maintains the local origination system for both the residential and hospital cable TV system in accordance with the Policy on Use of Campus Cable Television System. Each system has locally-originated channels (see channel lineup below) that includes satellite, electronic bulletin board, and video playback systems. Most of the residential channels are programmed by other departments, but run through the Educational Technologies system. Educational Technologies is not responsible for other programming (purchasing entertainment or news channels) or transmission (reception problems). Students experiencing problems with reception or concerns about non-locally originated programming should contact their RHD.

  12. DoIT feeds information from PeopleSoft and other systems into the campus phone directory and people search online directory. In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), student data is not accessible from Stony Brook's People Search tool, only that of faculty, staff, and emeritus.
