WolfieNet IoT

WolfieNet-IoT  (IoT = Internet of Things) is a wireless network that should only be used by games and mobile devices that cannot authenticate using the WPA2 Enterprise protocol.

Using WolfieNet-IoT

Devices

WolfieNet-IoT is a wireless network that should only be used by game consoles and mobile devices that cannot authenticate using the WPA2 Enterprise protocol.  

Connecting

To connect a game console or mobile device, the SSID (Service Set Identifier) must be typed (case sensitive) into the game console or mobile device's network configuration. The SSID that needs to be typed in is WolfieNet-IoT.

Notes

  • Up to 3 devices may be registered
  • Devices must be re-registered every semester
  • Devices may be removed at iot.resnet.stonybrook.edu but you must be on a Stony Brook internet connection and in a residential building to access this site

Important Reminder

WolfieNet-IoT should not be used for computers because all network traffic is unencrypted and can be viewed by anyone on the network.

Passwords and personal identity information could be easily captured from clients using this network.
