  1. Classroom Technology & Support Solutions provides numerous services to enhance and facilitate classroom instruction. Service counters in the Javits Lecture Center, the Health Sciences Center, and Frey Hall each provide different aspects of support.

  2. Take richer notes:  OneNote is a flexible application for information gathering and multiple user collaboration for course notes and meeting minutes.  It captures notes that are typed from a keyboard or handwritten from a stylus, screenshots, and audio recordings. You can invite others to view or collaborate on your notes.

  4. Most SINC Sites may be reserved for classes. In addition, some computer classrooms are reserved exclusively for course use and are not used as open labs for students.

  5. The WolfieNet-Secure wireless network is one of SBU networks available for connecting via WiFi to many of the SBU Campus resources and internet access.  WolfieNet-Secure is the recommended network for all students, faculty, and staff while on campus.  Use your NetID to gain access to this secure network for your personal mobile devices.

     

     

  6. To prevent the inadvertent transfer of sensitive and/or personal data to unauthorized parties, the New York State Office of General Services (NYS-OGS) requires all surplus IT equipment to be cleansed of all data before disposing or repurposing. It is expected that all data be erased from the hard drive (and any other media) in such a manner that it cannot be recovered. Customer Engagement and Support can provide this service on an as-needed basis. It is recommended that when repurposing equipment (e.g. moving machines between personnel or departments), that the machine be cleaned of any University data before the swap.

  7. OnBase is a document management system available for University departments who are interested in eliminating paper and managing their business files.  

  8. The SBU Faculty Profiles website is available to Stony Brook University faculty across all campuses. The new site is a single place where faculty can update and review their faculty profile. The site acts as the primary repository for several data points and aggregates data from other sources. NetID authentication is required to sign in to update a faculty profile.

  9. Network Services provides the cabling infrastructure for the University which serves all voice, data, and television needs. This includes indoor station cabling (jacks) and outdoor, underground feeds.

    Stony Brook's virtual private network (VPN) allows access to certain Stony Brook applications, resources, and services from off-campus.   
    NOTE:  The VPN requires a Stony Brook email address and Duo 2-Step login prior to downloading and installing the VPN.

  20. Stony Brook University's Visa and Immigration Services has gone electronic with accessVIS, an online portal for students, faculty, and staff. The accessVIS system allows electronic submission of immigration requests to Visa and Immigration Services and provides a source of communication for updates and notifications.
