  7. MySBfiles is a network storage option for all students, faculty, and staff. Up to 2 GB of data can be stored in your personal MySBfiles which is backed up regularly on an automated basis by University servers. You can access your MySBfiles from on or off campus using a Web browser. 

    Note: Users on the UHMC domain will use their Home Directory ("U Drive") instead of MySBfiles. For information please call the UHMC Help Desk at 4-HELP.

Take richer notes:  OneNote is a flexible application for information gathering and multiple user collaboration for course notes and meeting minutes.  It captures notes that are typed from a keyboard or handwritten from a stylus, screenshots, and audio recordings. You can invite others to view or collaborate on your notes.

SOLAR is Stony Brook University's enterprise-wide, self-service system which provides faculty, staff, and students with online access to manage personal information. Students use SOLAR to register for classes, print schedules, view and pay bills, update personal contact information, view transcripts, and submit student employment timesheets. Employees use SOLAR to update personal contact information, view vacation/sick accruals, print class rosters, submit grades, and much more.

Stony Brook University utilizes PointSolutions (previously Turning Technologies) polling clickers for interactive, wireless, student responses in classrooms and large lecture halls. PointSolutions allows instructors to float a poll bar above any application, and gives the ability to track each student's performance data generated during a lesson or team activity. This tracking produces student and class performance reports with respect to lessons.

This system helps simplify the room request/reservation process and provides analytics on space needs and assignments, therefore establishing a benchmark for efficient space usage on campus.

In an effort to decrease the number of passwords required to access computing applications across the University, DoIT has incrementally implemented its Web-based, NetID Single Sign On (SSO) service since 2008. Users can log in to campus applications such as Google Apps for Education and WolfMart without having to sign on multiple times or remember many passwords. The SSO service is only used for those applications accessed through a Web browser. Client-based applications, such as the mail client on a smart phone, do not use the Stony Brook SSO.
