As you are aware, we are changing our Learning Management System (LMS) from BlackBoard to Brightspace. For the Fall 2022 semester, you will have the option to use either tool.
To log into Brightspace, go to: https://mycourses.stonybrook.edu/ and click the SBU NetID Login button. You will need to log in with your NetID username and password.
Once you log in, you will have access to an empty Brightspace course shell for your Fall 2022 course.
In addition, if you taught the same course last Fall, you will see a “Fall 2021 Blackboard course copy” in Brightspace so you can move any existing content that you wish into your Fall 2022 course shell. Please note that the migration of the courses and support materials, such as textbook integrations, is an ongoing process throughout the summer. You can find updates at: https://brightspace.stonybrook.edu
Can my students see my course?
Students will be enrolled into Brightspace by Friday, August 12th. We recommend you make your course unavailable while you build it. Instructions can be found here: https://it.stonybrook.edu/help/kb/making-a-brightspace-course-available-or-unavailable-to-students
How can I learn more about Brightspace?
There are a variety of training options for faculty, staff, and students through SUNY’s Center for Professional Development. DoIT will resume MiniBytes in August, which will be announced through Campus Announcements and posted on the IT Events calendar. We encourage everyone to join the Brightspace Community at: https://community.brightspace.com as well. For extended support, SUNY’s helpdesk can be reached at: 1-844-673-6786, available Monday - Friday 7am - Midnight, Saturday 10am - 6pm, and Sunday 10am - 9pm EST. For schedule updates, visit: online.suny.edu/help. During the Fall semester, DoIT & CELT will also offer targeted consultations.
