  1. Google Chat is a collaborative messaging tool. It allows you to chat, share content, schedule meetings, and more in a shared space with your team or 1-to-1. And all of your teams can have their own chat Spaces, for collaborating on documents and assigning team tasks. You can even create external Rooms to collaborate with people outside Stony Brook.

  2. MySBfiles is a network storage option for all students, faculty, and staff. Up to 2 GB of data can be stored in your personal MySBfiles which is backed up regularly on an automated basis by University servers. You can access your MySBfiles from on or off campus using a Web browser. 

    Note: Users on the UHMC domain will use their Home Directory ("U Drive") instead of MySBfiles. For information please call the UHMC Help Desk at 4-HELP.

    IMPORTANT UPDATE:  Access to MySBfiles via a web browser at https://mysbfiles.stonybrook.edu or SFTP will be discontinued as of 7/31/24.

     

  3. The RF Business System consists of the Oracle suite of grants management, financial and human resources applications. It is primarily a transaction-processing and report-generating system used by the administrative offices that conduct research activity and serve the Stony Brook research community.

  4. WolfieNet-Secure is Stony Brook University's recommended wireless network on West Campus, Southampton, Manhattan, and parts of East Campus. It is available to all faculty, students, and staff. New locations continue to be added as wireless technology and equipment continues to be upgraded and enhanced in order to handle the growing number of devices seeking to connect to the network. For visitors to the University, WolfieNet-Guest is the recommended network to use.

  5. The Virtual SINC Site provides a way for students, faculty, and staff members to access site-licensed, academic software titles directly from their personal computers from either on or off campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students can also use the Virtual SINC Site to access the Print From Anywhere service using any device or operating system.

  6. Softweb is Stony Brook's software distribution website. It is the host from which members of the campus community may download different software titles

  7. Students can print in SINC Sites and other computer labs on campus, or by using Stony Brook's Print From Anywhere service.

  9. Stony Brook has enabled Eduroam, the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.

    Stony Brook's virtual private network (VPN) allows access to certain Stony Brook applications, resources, and services from off-campus.   
    NOTE:  The VPN requires a Stony Brook email address and Duo 2-Step login prior to downloading and installing the VPN.

It is essential to note that employees of Stony Brook University, utilizing Research Foundation or State funds, are prohibited from procuring telephone equipment, supplies, or services from local cellular service provider stores or service centers. Any requests for equipment, service, or user name changes with wireless service providers must adhere to this procedure. Personal use of the University’s mobile communication equipment and services is strictly prohibited. 

  13. The SBU Faculty Profiles website is available to Stony Brook University faculty across all campuses. The new site is a single place where faculty can update and review their faculty profile. The site acts as the primary repository for several data points and aggregates data from other sources. NetID authentication is required to sign in to update a faculty profile.

  14. Network Services provides the cabling infrastructure for the University which serves all voice, data, and television needs. This includes indoor station cabling (jacks) and outdoor, underground feeds.
