To prevent the inadvertent transfer of sensitive and/or personal data to unauthorized parties, the New York State Office of General Services (NYS-OGS) requires all surplus IT equipment to be cleansed of all data before disposing or repurposing. It is expected that all data be erased from the hard drive (and any other media) in such a manner that it cannot be recovered. Customer Engagement and Support can provide this service on an as-needed basis. It is recommended that when repurposing equipment (e.g. moving machines between personnel or departments), that the machine be cleaned of any University data before the swap.

  9. The RF Business System consists of the Oracle suite of grants management, financial and human resources applications. It is primarily a transaction-processing and report-generating system used by the administrative offices that conduct research activity and serve the Stony Brook research community.

  13. ePortfolios, powered by Digication, are a type of digital portfolio utilized by students and faculty to document their professional development and establish a positive online presence. With an ePortfolio, students and faculty can create online archives of their achievements, professional experience, academic work, personal hobbies and more. ePortfolios can be used as an extension of a resume to market yourself to prospective employers.
