HBO LogoStony Brook University joined Harvard University, the University of Washington, and the University of Alabama as only the fourth school in the United States to offer HBO GO to its resident students on Sept. 22. HBO GO provides instant, unlimited access to HBO programming anytime, anywhere at no extra charge.

DoIT's Senior Director of Operations Michael Ospitale spearheaded the deal, in cooperation with Campus Residences, to include HBO GO as part of Stony Brook's on-campus housing package. Stony Brook students can now get their own personal HBO GO account to enjoy every episode of every season of the best HBO shows, including HBO original programming, hit movies, sports, documentaries, comedy specials, and more all in high definition (HD).

"We are constantly evaluating new and exciting technologies, especially ones that will delight our students," said Ospitale. "We see HBO GO as the first step in delivering new forms of entertainment content to our resident students."

Resident students will be able to access more than 2,000 HBO titles right from their computers (Windows or Mac) and from select tablets, mobile devices, steaming players, smart TVs and game consoles. Virtually all HBO's programming inventory is available online with instant and unlimited access, including access to bonus features, behind-the-scenes extras, soundtracks and cast information. Students can use the application's "Watch List" to bookmark content for later viewing.

On Wednesday, Sept. 24, Campus Residences' Information Systems team will be hosting a table at the Wolfstock homecoming Hoopla and Carnival kick-off event in the SAC Plaza from 12:30 - 2:20 p.m. to promote HBO GO to resident students.
