The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) exists to advance the mission of the University by promoting digital equity and innovation.

We Must Innovate to Elevate

Delivering Digital Equity
The road to digital equity in research and academia isn't without its bumps. Unequal access to technology and inadequate digital literacy remain formidable hurdles.
Recognizing this, DoIT aims to deliver on its mission by progressing on three major initiatives: Enabling Innovation & Transformation, Fostering Inclusivity & Professional Growth and Partnering to Modernize & Protect.
By executing on these initiatives we can pave the way to a truly inclusive research and learning environment for everyone.

Finally DoIT seeks to support University wide transformations by executing on projects that streamline processes and reduce costs to help our partners throughout the university perform their jobs effectively.

Fostering Inclusivity and Growth

Fostering Inclusivity and Professional Growth

Diversity of ideas, cultures and experiences makes our teams and committees stronger. DoIT is proud of its diverse workforce and the welcoming environment it strives to build where everyone feels valued and heard.

We have taken steps to implement mentorship programs, leadership development initiatives and professional development & training opportunities which nurture the talents of our team so that they are best equipped to grow in their careers.

DoIT's commitment to professional growth doesn't stop within its own walls. DoIT has built an extensive workshop catalog and knowledgebase aimed at equipping our users with the necessary skills to best utilize our services in the course of their teaching, learning and work.

Partnering to Modernize and Protect

Partnering to Modernize and Protect

As a service entity, DoIT strives to create partnerships to enable the ongoing modernization of our technology infrastructure, policies, and processes. These modernization efforts allow DoIT to take into consideration major global higher education trends as well as socio-technical trends that influence the overall expectations of our users.

In today's hyper-connected world, cybersecurity threats loom large. Recognizing this, DoIT has created a strong Information Security team that serves as a vigilant sentinel, safeguarding the university's digital infrastructure and data.

DoIT understands that true progress comes only through collaboration. Our team works closely with departments across the university, fostering open communication and joint initiatives. By creating a culture of collaboration we empower everyone to succeed.

IT Recognition

The mission of IT Recognition is to help encourage the University to recognize both individual employees and team achievements that show consistency, outstanding achievement and remarkable results in a simple, fair and diligent manner.

Richard W. Reeder Scholarship

Richard W. Reeder was a trusted colleague, mentor and friend to many at Stony Brook University during his tenure that spanned more than 40 years. He was also a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Rich was a visionary who championed technology, saving Stony Brook University millions of dollars and taking it to the next level. Rich passed away much too soon and in celebration of his life and legacy, the Richard W. Reeder Endowed Scholarship was created by his family and friends.
