Importing Grades from Brightspace to SOLAR
Many courses can now import Brightspace Grades directly to SOLAR.
Requirements
Import grades from the Calculated or Adjusted Final Grade Column in Brightspace is available ONLY for courses in which
- Every student has a grade
- Calculated Final or Adjusted Final grades display as letter grades (A, B-, D+, etc.) via a Brightspace Grading Scheme
- The course is a single course (import doesn't work for merged courses or courses where multiple SOLAR courses are combined in Brightspace)
Note! For students who will receive an “I” or other grades that cannot be calculated based on percentage, you can modify that grade once in SOLAR.

Troubleshooting
If you receive an error message which prevents you from importing the grades into Solar, please check for the following:
Have you made the Grade Scheme Symbol visible to students?
If the letter grade in the final grade column is not visible to students, then you will not be able to complete the import.
Make the letter grade visible by going into the grade settings, selecting Org Unit Display Options at the top and selecting the checkbox under Student View Display Options that says Grade scheme symbol.
Has the final grade been released to ALL students in Brightspace?
Check that your final grade column (either final calculated or final adjusted depending on your settings) is visible to all students.
If any students cannot see their final grade (indicated by an icon of an eye with a slash through it next to the final grade), the grade was not released to the student. In order for the import to work, ALL final grades—as letters—need to be released/visible to students.
Are you using valid grade symbols?
Your grade symbol must be a SOLAR-approved grade symbol in order to import.
For example, A+ is not a valid SOLAR grade, so if you provided your student with an A+ in your scheme, you will receive an error message when you try to import gredes.
Review the symbols that can be used in SOLAR. If your Brightspace grades use any non-approved letter grades, you must change the symbol in your Brightspace grade scheme and then repeat the import.
