Tech Matters for Winter Session!
Welcome Winter session students. Whether you are visiting or returning, we have some tech tips for you!
Welcome Winter students!
Your official record of registration is in SOLAR. You can use SOLAR to view your schedule, pay bills and update your contact information.
To log into any of the following systems, you will need your Stony Brook NetID username & password.
Most Winter session courses post their content and assignments on Brightspace If you are visiting from another SUNY School, this is not mylearning.suny.edu. Be sure you are logging into the correct site: brightspace.stonybrook.edu
By default, Brightspace courses are NOT available. Your instructor needs to make the site available. If your instructor has told you that Brightspace will be used and you do not see the course when you log in, contact your instructor
Notifications and emails sent from Stony Brook's Brightspace automatically go to your Stony Brook Google account.
Not familiar with Brightspace? Our student technologists have compiled a Getting Started with Brightspace for Students guide for you.
The University uses Google Workspace for email, calendaring and collaboration. New additions this winter are Turnitin Draft Coach (after December 20th) & Google NotebookLM
Turnitin Draft coach assists with citations & grammar. If you have writing assignments in your classes, we highly recommend you try out this new addition! Papers submitted to DraftCoach are NOT submitted to Turnitin.
Google NotebookLM allows you to build study guides with PDF's, links, audio files and more.
