Preventing Dropped WolfieNet Wifi Connections from Private Wifi Addresses on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

To help prevent dropped wifi issues on campus, do not use private Wi-Fi addresses for WolfieNet on iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, or Apple Watches.

Starting with iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7, iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, or Apple Watches can use a different MAC address with each Wi-Fi network.

HOWEVER, using these private Wi-Fi addresses for campus connections may cause issues. 

If your Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch, turn off private addressing (Private Wi-Fi addresses are available starting with iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7) by following the steps below.

 

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Go to Wi-Fi.

  1. Tap the Information (i) button to the right of the network you're currently on.

  1. Tap on Private Wi-Fi Address.

  1. Select Off from the options. Click Allow Tracking in order to proceed.

  1. Private Wi-Fi addresses should now be turned off on your device.
