The recommended set up is to have Duo send a Push notification to your phone.  However, you can setup Duo to give you a choice between which device to use in case your default device is not always available.  For example, if you want to be prompted from your Office phone while you are in the office and while at home you'd like to be prompted from your mobile or house phone, you can set up duo to give you a choice each time you need to authenticate.

  1. Ensure that you have at least 2 devices enrolled in Duo.  You can add, remove and update devices in the Duo Self Service portal:   https://duoselfservice.stonybrook.edu/
  2. Select Ask me to choose an authentication method
    ""

Next time you need to authenticate you will be prompted to choose a Device
""

and how you want to authenticate:

  • Send Me a Push (mobile phones only)
  • Call Me
  • Enter a Passcode
