Moving and Canceling Microsoft licenses
Licenses are not automatically moved if someone gets a new computer OR if someone leaves a department. The user’s supervisor, secretary staff, or colleagues must create a request to move the license to prevent having to pay for an additional license.
- The supervisor, secretary staff, or colleague of the person whose license you want to move needs to log in to create a ticket in the self-service portal at service.stonybrook.edu.
- Create a Ticket requesting that the user's license be moved, and, when applicable, include the original user's computer name and email address and the new computer name and email address.
- Once the ticket is routed to the correct team, a technician will reach out to move forward with the next steps.
