Enterprise Data & Analytics provides technical expertise in the development of the university enterprise data warehouse. The data warehouse models and centralizes data from multiple systems including PeopleSoft Financials, Campus Budget Module (CBM), Campus Solutions (CS), and Human Capital Management (HCM), as well as other university systems.
Adding strategic value
The data warehouse does more than just store data, it provides added strategic value in many ways to serve the analytical data needs of the institution
- The data warehouse provides an enhanced and optimized representation of data through the creation of derived fields and calculations
- Data models are designed along common attributes to enable integrations and bridge data across functional areas
- Organizational structures, such as chart of accounts, and complex business rules for derived fields are built in
Technical facts
- The data warehouse provides access to 25+ years of historic data
- It stores current and historic “frozen” snapshots curated for official reporting and trends
- Data models are refreshed nightly through automated processes
- Access to the data warehouse data is restricted and requires a legitimate educational or institutional purpose. Access to these data systems is managed with Single Sign-On (SSO) using your SBU NetID
