Windows 10 End of Life
This information has been shared via Campus Announcements, IT Partners and users directly affected.
Starting October 14, 2025, Microsoft will officially end support for the Windows 10 operating system. After this date, Microsoft will no longer release security updates or patches.
As a result of this change in support status, any computers still running Windows 10 will pose a serious security risk to both individual users and the Stony Brook University network. To maintain a secure and reliable computing environment, all university-owned devices must be upgraded to a supported operating system before this deadline.
🔒 Why Won’t Windows 10 Be Supported Anymore?
After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will stop providing critical security updates for Windows 10. While these devices will technically continue to function without ongoing updates, they will be vulnerable to new security threats, putting both personal data and the university’s network at risk
