DoIT Celebrates National IT Professionals Day and Hosts a Town Hall Event

The Information Technology Division came together on September 17th, for an IT Town Hall and to celebrate National IT Professionals Day. The meeting was filled with gratitude, introductions, and exciting plans for the future. 

Simeon Ananou, Vice President for Information Technology and CIO kicked off the session by expressing his sincere appreciation to the entire IT team for their hard work and dedication. He highlighted the new hires to the organization and thanked others for their service.

He then introduced the newly established Digital Governance 1.0 framework, which he described as a mechanism to help strengthen DoIT’s partnership with the campus community while at the same time help maintain an alignment between the University’s strategic direction and IT investments.  Additionally, he outline the three committees and guiding principles that will shape the digital governance  moving forward. Simeon discussed future opportunities for the IT organization to become engaged in the Digital Governance activity in the near future.

Next, Matt Nappi, Chief Information Security Officer, took the stage to introduce the newly formed Identity and Access Management (IAM) team including Director of IAM, Pulak Bhuiya. This team is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of the campus's digital identities and access controls. Pulak shared some of the team's plans for the near future, generating excitement among the IT staff.

Simeon returned to discuss some of the division's future plans, highlighting the modernization of the SOLAR application. This initiative aims to enhance the user experience for both students, faculty, and staff. He also introduced the idea of future Advisory services provided by the division.

The in-person Town Hall was well-received by the IT team. It provided an opportunity for everyone to connect, share ideas, and celebrate their accomplishments on this special day.
