Differences between Licensed and Basic Zoom Accounts and Who Gets Basic (Affiliates) vs Licensed Zoom Accounts
Stony Brook Affiliates have Basic Zoom Accounts (not licensed Zoom accounts) and thus have limited functionality in Zoom. PeopleSoft InstructorActive, StudentEnrolled, and EmployeeActive-SBU are automatically assigned Licensed Zoom Accounts.
Stony Brook University Affiliates have basic Zoom accounts (instead of *licensed accounts) in Zoom. Basic Zoom accounts have slightly limited functionality.
In order for an affiliate to receive an upgraded licensed Zoom Account the department should contact Theresa O'Connell <Theresa.oconnell@stonybrook.edu> on the affiliate's behalf.
The email must include:
- Name of affiliate(s)
- Explanation or justification as to why they require the license
- The department's state account number
- A statement of commitment and understanding that these licenses cannot be canceled until the end of the Zoom contract which is currently March 2025
