New System For Password Resets

Published:

Identity management is an important aspect of today’s digital world.  In order to keep your accounts secure, we have a new system for resetting passwords which require multiple methods for authentication.  Detailed instructions for how to use the reset tool can be found on the IT service site.  In order for this system to remain effective, it is vital to maintain accurate contact information in Solar.  In Solar, under the “Security and Personal Data” section, there will be links for Phone Numbers and Email Addresses.  Please take a moment to verify that you have an up-to-date mobile number and personal email address on record.  The password reset system also allows you to create custom security questions that can be used as one form of authentication.  Detailed instructions to create new questions can be found here.  Keeping this information current will help expedite any future password resets, as well as help the Service Desk provide speedy assistance with related helpdesk calls.

Solar can be accessed directly at: https://it.stonybrook.edu/services/solar
