You can join a Google Hangout in several ways:

Join from Google Mail

  1. When added to a Google Video Hangout, if you're signed into Google Hangouts/Chat (in Google Mail) you'll see a pop up in Google Mail with the option to Answer or Decline the video call. Click Answer and the Hangout will open in a new window:

  2. Instead or in addition, you may also see an email invitation to join. Open the email and click Join:

Join from a Calendar Event

  1. If you have a link/URL for a Hangout (in a calendar event or email, for example), click on the link next to Video call to join
hangout in calendar event with link to Join Meeting: Nichole

External Guests and Joining

If external guests are allowed to your Hangout, they will need to request access, and someone already in the Hangout will need to accept the request before they can join.
