Can sensitive data such as SSN and DOB be collected during registration?

  1. If a business process requires the collection and sharing of sensitive data from a registrant which was provided by the registrant during the event registration transaction, departments must take additional measures to protect and safeguard the information.  

  2. The SB Event administrator will require documentation regarding why and how the data being collected will be utilized and will need to see clearance from Stony Brook legal counselor that the business process has been approved.  The department will also need to provide a fact sheet for the registrant on why and where this data will be shared and for what purposes.

  3. A SB Event user account with then be issued to the department to access the data securely for reporting purposes.
