As part of our ongoing commitment to providing our campus community with secure, high-performing wireless connectivity, Stony Brook University is refreshing our on-campus Wi-Fi. Beginning July 22, 2026, eduroam will become our primary wireless network, replacing WolfieNet-Secure. Starting today, we encourage all users to begin disconnecting from WolfieNet-Secure and reconnect their digital devices to eduroam

Enhancing our Digital Footprint - by moving to eduroam, we are implementing the latest security standards to ensure your data remains protected while providing seamless internet access and a more resilient backbone for Stony Brook’s wireless network connectivity.

Once set up, you’ll have access to Wi-Fi at Stony Brook and at over 4,000 institutions in the United States that use eduroam in their wireless networks. Simply connect your device once, and you’ll have Wi-Fi access enabled.

How to Connect

To ensure your device trusts the correct root certificates and to avoid premature expiration of your access, please follow these three steps:

  1. 🔴 Stop and Forget: Locate your saved Wi-Fi networks on your device and “Forget” both WolfieNet-Secure and eduroam.
  2. 🟡 Get Set Up: Connect to SBU-GetConnected. Use your browser to visit https://eduroam.stonybrook.edu to access the SecureW2 onboarding tool.
  3. 🟢 Go: Follow the step-by-step directions to configure your device type. Once completed, your device will be configured to use eduroam as the official network.

Important Reminders

Please do not attempt to connect to eduroam directly without using the SBU-GetConnected / SecureW2 tool. Using the onboarding tool ensures your device trusts the correct root certificate and prevents your access from expiring unexpectedly.
