A special acknowledgement to Behzad Barzideh. “With 35 years of dedicated service to the University, Behzad brings an immense depth of institutional knowledge, continuity, and commitment. His long-standing experience offers the team a valuable historical perspective, a deep understanding of university operations, and a reliable presence that strengthens both the team and the University,” stated Ken Myung, Manager of Network Services

And wow, 45 years of dedication from Stuart in Enterprise Applications & Integrations is truly remarkable! “Stuart B Campbell has been working at Stony Brook University since before smartphones, cell phones, wi-fi, the world wide web, the Internet, before email, and a little bit before micro computers (PCs), and terminals… Stuart is intelligent and always curious about new technologies. He enjoys working and is talented in analyzing issues to find appropriate solutions”, says ShihLiang Yen, Supervising Programmer Analyst

Career highlights include:

  1. Hired as a computer programmer for ARTIS
  2. Transferred to work on shared code for the online Sperry (later Unisys) application
  3. In the 1980s, he supported the mainframes' connection to the BITNET network and helped with interactive environments like VM/CMS, email (Rice Mailer, All-in-1), STARS, dial-up connections, RSCS, SNA, Ethernet, MVS, TSO, CICS, and SOLAR.

ShihLiang continues to highlight Stuart’s contributions, “Stuart successfully implemented PeopleSoft Finance Application, Netscaler Appliance to ensure security and enhanced functionalities, assisted in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions upgrade, and PeopleSoft migration to OCI. He also maintains and upgrades several applications such as Sunapsis, Clockwork, Accommodate, Roboregistrar, Crystal Report, and LAMP server.

I would also like to highlight that Stuart is always welcoming to new members in DoIT. If they are in our building, he will make it a point to stop in and introduce himself and invite them along for our walks. He is always friendly and striking up conversations to make everyone feel welcome. Professionally, Stuart is easy to work and collaborate with and he has taken great effort in training new colleagues.”

These individuals have undoubtedly witnessed and contributed to significant changes and growth at Stony Brook University over the years. Their commitment speaks volumes about their dedication to the institution and DoIT.
