Students may maintain access to their SB You websites after they graduate, provided they first request an alumni email account through the Alumni Association. Here are instructions for how students can change the administrator email address on their SB You website accounts before they graduate in order to maintain access and keep updating their sites.

  1. A few days or weeks before graduation, be sure to request an alumni email account through the Alumni Association. This will be a new Gmail account. Your email address will be firstname.lastname@alumni.stonybrook.edu. You must have an alumni.stonybrook.edu email address in order to keep your SB You sites for life.
  2. Sign in to your SB You site(s) at you.stonybrook.edu. Add the alumni email account as an administrator to your SB You site(s). To do this, go to Dashboard > Users > Add New. Under "Add New User," the username can be anything, but your email address must be your Stony Brook alumni email address that you will receive after following Step 1. Change "Role" to Administrator and click the Add New User button.

  3. Check your alumni account inbox. The SB You (WordPress) system will send you a temporary password so you may continue logging in to your SB You site(s) after your NetID password expires. NetID passwords expire for students 200 days after graduation.
  4. If you receive an email with the password
    1. Log into your SB You site(s) by using the following URL: https://you.stonybrook.edu/YOUR-SITE-NAME/wp-login.php (replacing YOUR-SITE-NAME with your SB You site's name)
    2. Click "Guest Login here"

    3. Log in with the password you received from WordPress.
  5. If you do not receive an email with the password
    1. Go to your SB You site(s) using the following URL format: https://you.stonybrook.edu/YOUR-SITE-NAME/wp-login.php (replacing YOUR-SITE-NAME with your SB You site's name)
    2. Click "Guest Login here"
    3. Click "Lost your password?" below the Log in
    4. Enter the email address added in step 2 and click "Get New Password" to send an email with a link to create a new password
    5. Create a new password as indicated by the email, and then follows steps 4.1-4.3 to log in to your site
