About StarRez
DoIT's University Information Systems (UIS) team replaced the housing software used by Campus Residences during the Summer of 2015 with a new online housing system (OHS) called StarRez. StarRez not only solves some major limitations of the old system, but also introduces new functionality:
Real-Time Solution
The OHS is a real-time solution with all housing functions integrated in one place. Students are able to sign in with their NetID and get up-to-the-minute information about their housing status, notifications, reminders, finances, and new applications with little or no staff involvement through the OHS Student Web Portal.
Accessible
Students are able to access the OHS from anywhere there is Internet access using any device (desktops, tablets, and smartphones). The OHS supports all common browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera.
Integrated Communication
The OHS has integrated communications that allow staff to quickly communicate important housing information to students in a variety of formats including system messages, email, and text messages.
The OHS offers students great flexibility to select spaces during the Online Room Selection process
Students are able to visually see the location of the room in the building floor plan prior to selecting it.
Students have the ability to lock and hold a space while deciding if they want to select the space, similar to a ticketmaster system.
The OHS assists residents in finding and pairing up with preferred roommates based on common interests and habits in order to minimize future conflicts.
Staff members have access to improved reporting and batch processing resulting in increased efficiency to the existing housing processes.
