Moving Microsoft perpetual license

Licenses are not automatically moved if someone gets a new computer.  The user’s supervisor, secretary staff, or colleagues must create a request to move the license to prevent having to pay for an additional license.

  1. The supervisor, secretary staff, or colleague of the person whose license you want to move needs to log in to create a ticket in the self-service portal at service.stonybrook.edu.

  2. Create a Ticket requesting that the user's license be moved, and include the original user's computer name and the new computer name.

  3. Once the ticket is routed to the correct team, a technician will reach out to complete the Microsoft software installation on the specified computer.

  4. The request is resolved.
