Google recently announced that Google Drive for Mac/PC, the application installed on your computer (that appears as a computer folder called Google Drive), is going away in March of 2018, and a replacement client application, called Backup and Sync from Google, will be available for use.

Google Drive (drive.google.com), our unlimited online storage that you access online from your Stony Brook Google account, is not going away, and the new Google Drive Backup and Sync application will provide the same functions Drive for Mac/PC did and more!

For current DoIT Google Drive for Mac/PC users on DoIT-managed machines, DoIT will automatically roll out the upgraded application, Backup and Sync from Google. Once Backup and Sync from Google is ready for SBU, current Google Drive for Mac/PC users will receive communication providing a date when the automatic installation will occur and instructions on logging in and setting up the new program, Backup and Sync from Google.
