The Microsoft Office suite

Students and West Campus faculty and staff can now download Microsoft Office for free through Stony Brook’s Office 365 subscription. The process is easy, just log into Office 365 using your Stony Brook email and follow the download instructions. The Division of Information Technology has also created two guides with instructions for PCs and  Macs.

Downloading Office through Office 365 allows students and West Campus faculty and staff to install the software on up to five machines and five tablets at no additional cost. Users can download Office 2013 Professional Plus for PC, Office 2011 for Mac, Office for iPad and Office Mobile for Android and iPhone.

The Office suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Lync and InfoPath. For first time users, Microsoft has a variety of immersive quick start guides available on Windows. You can read the FAQ for more information about all of the Office products that are available.

This option replaces downloading Office through the University’s OnTheHub page. Students, faculty and staff can still purchase other software like Adobe Creative Cloud and VMware through OnTheHub at a heavily discounted rate.
