Office 2016 for Mac is now available for free for Stony Brook University students and West Campus faculty and staff through Stony Brook’s Office 365 subscription.

The new version of the software is the first major update since Office for Mac 2011. It features the familiar Office interface, upgraded to take advantage of Mac features such as full screen views and multi-touch gestures. The suite includes Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and now OneNote for note-taking.

The process is easy. Just log into Office 365 using your Stony Brook email, go to Office 365 Settings, and follow the installation instructions. The Division of Information Technology has also created a guide with instructions for Macs.

Downloading Office through Office 365 allows students and West Campus faculty and staff to install the software on up to five machines and five tablets at no additional cost. Users can download Office 2016 for Mac, Office 2013 Professional Plus for PC, Office for iPad and Office Mobile for Android and iPhone.

The Office 2016 suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
