On Monday, June 20, Vice President for Information Technology & CIO Melissa Woo announced that Phil Doesschate will serve in the role of Director of IT Policy for DoIT (Division of Information Technology). Doesschate's deep institutional knowledge will be important to the review of existing IT-related University and DoIT policies for continued applicability and effectiveness, and he will coordinate the development and distribution of new and revised University and DoIT policies as appropriate. Doesschate is well-qualified for his new role, as he has been instrumental in formulating a number of University and IT policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines. He has also done important work in organizing and maturing the University’s information security function over the past three years.

In related news on the same day, Woo named Matthew Nappi Interim Chief Information Security Officer at Stony Brook. A national search will launch to recruit for the permanent position. Nappi and Doesschate already have a close working relationship which will help ensure that both policy and information security efforts will continue to grow and mature.
