Requirements

  • Your Stony Brook University NetID account
  • A working network connection
  • A DUO account
  • One of the following operating systems:
    • Windows 7 or later

One important note before continuing

  • You must complete the set up of your DUO account before continuing.
  • Caution! There is a 15 minute idle timeout.  A warning message will appear that time is running out.  Be aware that you may be leaving unfinished projects alone too long.  You will lose your work!

Connecting to a Remote SINC Site Workstation

  1. From a web browser, navigate to https://it.stonybrook.edu/services/remote-sinc-site

  2. In the 'Remote Desktop Availability' section of the page you can choose any Windows workstation that is 'Available' and click the 'Connect' link

  3. A .rdp file will be downloaded to your computer.  Open the .rdp file.  If you are prompted with an unknown publisher warning, click 'Connect'.

  4. Enter your NetID credentials when prompted for your username and password. You may need to add the prefix "SUNYSB.EDU\" before your NetID if your credentials do not work initially.

  5. If you have a DUO account already set up, you will receive a DUO prompt on your mobile device (or alternative DUO prompt method) that you must approve. (DUO push to an Android phone shown below)

  6. Once approved, you should be presented with the SINC Site login message and finish the login process.
