Respondus

Respondus is  a software that allows you to create tests and question pools  which can be uploaded into Blackboard. This software allows you to work offline and create your test questions and manage them so that they can be easily reused and and combined with other tests. Respondus allows you to take advantage of Blackboard's testing features and create reports on student performance.

Stony Brook University has a Respondus & Respondus Monitor Subscription.  Additional information and links to Respondus resources can be found below.

Additional Respondus Tools include:

  • Respondus LockDown Browser - When setting up online exams/quizzes  in Blackboard, if you check this box, your students are required  use the Respondus LockDown Browser .   Students must install the software before they can take the exam.  This custom browser  prevents Internet searches, accessing notes or other applications on the computer, or copying the exam questions themselves, among other things.  The download/install  link is unique to Stony Brook University.  Respondus Lockdown browser is not available in SINC Sites or on the Virtual SINC Site.

  • Respondus Monitor [additional resources] - Uses the student's webcam to prevent cheating during non-proctored exams. NOTE: Students will need access to a webcam for this tool.   Respondus Monitor is not available in the SINC Sites or on the Virtual SINC Site.
