If you have not been instructed to create an ePortfolio from a specific template:

  1. Go to http://stonybrook.digication.com
  2. On the top right of the page, click the green "Login" button.
  3. Enter your NetID and password.
  4. On the left side of the page is a bolded heading titled "My ePortfolios". Click the green plus sign which is the create symbol.
  5. Underneath "Create An E-Portfolio", enter your name in the "Title of Your E-Portfolio" box. Under "E-Portfolio Web Address", click "Edit" and type in an appropriate web address (such as your name).
  6. Underneath "Choose a Template", select "Create from Scratch".
  7. Underneath "Choose a Theme", click "Use Selected Template's Theme".
  8. Click the grey "Customize" button that will appear under the green square.
  9. Change your "Directory Icon" by clicking "Choose File" and uploading an image. This image will appear next to your name in the Stony Brook ePortfolio Directory.
  10. The "Header" is the banner that is displayed at the top of every page of your ePortfolio. While you have the option of keeping the pre-set header, the majority of ePortfolio users upload their own image to create a more unique and easily recognizable ePortfolio.
  11. The "Custom CSS" section controls what colors the different elements of your ePortfolio are, such as the background. You can learn how to do this by visiting the ePortfolio help page here. You can always come back and modify this section.
  12. The "Footer" is very small text that appears at the bottom of your page. You may leave this blank if you prefer, or enter a quote or copyright information.
  13. Underneath "Permissions", click "Public". This will allow your ePortfolio to be found by a Google search.
  14. Underneath "Tagging", click "Allow Tags". This will enable your ePortfolio to be 'tagged' and then subsequently searched for by 'tag' in the ePortfolio directory.
  15. Click "Create New E-Portfolio".

You should now have an ePortfolio with one section (Home), and one page (Welcome). If you would like to go back and modify any of the changes you made so far while creating your ePortfolio, go to the top right of your page and click "Portfolio Tools" then select "Settings". This will bring you back to the page you left by clicking "Create New E-Portfolio" in step 15.
