Creating a Video Conference in Google Calendar using Google Meet

Google Hangouts Meet is a video conferencing tool that allows for screen sharing and chat.

Add video conferencing links to any Google Calendar meeting invitations.

This keeps the meeting room open for repeating events too!  The link to the meeting room never expires.

Video Tutorial

  1. Sign in Calendar with your NetID and NetID password at http://go.stonybrook.edu/gcal
  2. Create a meeting adding the 
    1. date and time
    2. guests
    3. description if necessary
  3. Click Add conferencing and select Hangouts Meet 
  4. Recipients can join the meeting from any device by clicking the join link either from their RSVP email

    or from their Google Calendar:

    Or Join by phone by dialing the phone number and entering the pin
  5. If your invitation includes external guests (those without Stony Brook Google Accounts), they can join after someone from Stony Brook University has joined and accepted them into it.
    • External users will need to put in their name: 
    • An SBU attendee can admit external attendees
