By putting your creative work on your ePortfolio, you open the door for potential plagiarism. Whether you upload original photos, artwork, songs, etc., people can download and use your work without your permission. A Creative Commons License is a great way to safeguard your work from potential plagiarism and gives you the ability to say exactly what you allow people to share, use or modify.

By putting your creative work on your ePortfolio, you open the door for potential plagiarism.  Whether you upload original photos, artwork, songs, etc., people can download and use your work without your permission.  A Creative Commons License is a great way to safeguard your work from potential plagiarism and gives you the ability to say exactly what you allow people to share, use or modify.

To create a Creative Commons License:


1. Log into Digication using your NetID and NetID password and navigate to then page where you would like to put your Creative Commons License.

2. Click "Add A Module" on the right-hand side of your window.  Please note that if there is no other content on this page, you do not need to click "Add A Module".

3. Under "Social", click "Creative Commons License" and click "Add This Module".

4. Next, set up your Creative Commons License as follows:

  • Allow modifications of your work? You can decide whether you will allow others to modify your work.
  • Allow commercial uses of your work? You can decide whether you will allow commercial use of your work.
  • License Jurisdiction: Select a country from the list where your work will be protected.  For all countries, select "International."
  • Help other attribute you! To protect all works on your ePortfolio, type "All work on this ePortfolio" under Title of work and your name under Attribute work to name.

5. Click Save to save your work.  Remember to Publish your page!
