To create a VoiceThread in a course you are teaching on Blackboard, follow these directions:

1. Log into Blackboard using your NetID and NetID password.

2. Select the course you want to create the VoiceThread for.

3. Click on the Content Area you want the VoiceThread in (for example Documents, Assignments, etc.).

4. Click Build Content and choose VoiceThread under Mashups.

  • Enter a name for your VoiceThread as well as any date and time restrictions as necessary.
  • If you are creating your VoiceThread as an assignment and would like to have a corresponding column in the Grade Center created, set Enable Grading to Yes.

5. When you are satisfied with your selections, click Submit.

6. Once you've created the VoiceThread mashup, click the link for the VoiceThread.

7. The following options will appear:

  • Course View: Creates a link to a Course Page with all VoiceThreads that have been linked to your course.
  • Individual Voice Thread: Creates a link to a single VoiceThread with content uploaded by the instructor.
  • VT Home: Creates a link to the VoiceThread homepage for the account used to log into Blackboard.  (When the instructor clicks this link, it opens their VoiceThread account, and when a student clicks this link, it opens their VoiceThread account.)

Please Note: The Assignment Builder option will only appear if you have enabled grading for this VoiceThread.

  • Assignment Builder: Creates a graded assignment that students can build.
    • Create a VoiceThread: Requires students to create and submit their own VoiceThread.
    • Submit a Comment: Requires students to comment on a VoiceThread that the instructor has created.
    • Watch a VoiceThread: Requires students to watch a VoiceThread in its entirety.
