Managers of a Google Group can change email delivery settings to allow, limit, or prevent email distribution to group members and other managers. Please note that regardless of this group setting, individual members and managers can also change how they want to receive email from their groups.

Allowing email distribution is a great way to share information with everyone in the group. Limiting email distribution by choosing the Abridged or Digest setting (see below) will still distribute information but in fewer emails. Preventing email distribution completely by choosing No email will keep inquiries to the group in one spot, namely on the group's discussion board webpage, and not send messages to members or managers.

  1. Go to your groups at
  2. On the Welcome screen, click My groups (either on the top left or in the center)
  3. The next screen lists the groups you belong to; click Manage by the name of the group that you want to change delivery settings for (note: you can change settings for any group that says (Manager) after it)
  4. Select the members/managers you'd like to change delivery settings for by checking the box(es) next to each name (Select all by clicking the check box next to Display Name)
  5. Click Actions > Change delivery setting and then select from the following options:
    • No email - Receive no email from the group's posts (posts only available online)
    • Abridged email - Receive one summary email per day
    • Digest - Receive one email for every 25 new messages
    • All email - Receive an email for every group post
