Intro to R for Windows
R is a programming language used for data analysis and statistics, and it is useful for those interested in careers involving data science or in any business fields. Users may use R for comparing, manipulating and analyzing data. RStudio is the convenient interface for using the R language, and both can be downloaded for free. Stony Brook students may access R through RStudio on the Virtual SINC Site (https://it.stonybrook.edu/services/virtual-sinc-site), or through SINC Site Computers (https://it.stonybrook.edu/services/sinc-sites).
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Set your working directory, read files, and understand the RStudio interface.
- Create vectors, matrices, data frames and complete basic calculations with data.
- Make a linear regression, perform basic data analysis and create a scatter plot.
- Compute frequency and relative frequency distributions of qualitative data.
- Make visual representations using qualitative data.
