ArcGIS Basics

ArcGIS is a program that allows users to create maps, compile geographic data and analyze maps.

Audience: Students and Teaching Assistants

Workshop Level: Beginner

At the end of this workshop you will be able to:

Use basic mapping functions like adding layers and viewing table data on ArcMap

Select and label data from a set as well as use the data to create or consolidate new data from map

Use typical map elements (title, name, scale, coordinate system) and assistance in creating a ArcGIS map

Use ArcGIS online and how to manipulate data using the editor toolbar

Avoid common mistakes when handling data and map files
