Mathworks will be on campus to offer a hands-on workshop and a seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015.

Session 1 Overview

MATLAB & Simulink for Project-Based Learning using LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 – Hands On Workshop

This workshop uses LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 as the target platform. Participants will develop and test robot control algorithms that access and use standard EV3 sensors and actuators, and automatically generate code to program the robot. They will also gain hands-on experience with Simulink as a complete, industry standard environment for modeling, analysis, simulation, and embedded code generation.

Session 2 Overview

MATLAB & Simulink for Project-Based Learning using LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 – Seminar 

MATLAB, Simulink, and the new Support Package for low-cost hardware, can help you to go from theory to practice, and easily experiment with concepts in mechatronics, circuit design, programming, controls, robotics, signal, image and video processing.

In this session, we will demonstrate how to design, simulate, optimize and deploy an embedded algorithm from Simulink. 

Highlights include:

  • Using Simulink for dynamic systems modeling
  • Designing and simulating control algorithms in Simulink
  • Designing advanced event-driven logic using Stateflow
  • Embedding control logic in low-cost hardware like LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 without writing any code
  • Monitoring sensor signals and tuning system parameters in real time

No prior experience with MATLAB or Simulink is necessary.
