Lotus Notes

Lotus Notes is a server-based email system which has been used by faculty and staff at Stony Brook University for many years. It is currently being phased out in favor of Google Apps for Education, but an official decommissioning date has not yet been announced.

Lotus Notes requires a client to be installed on your computer and uses a specially prepared ID file for password security. Both Windows and Mac versions are available for download from Softweb. Mail is stored on the Lotus Notes server and is accessed over the network via the Lotus Notes client. Web-based access is also available. Mail stored on the Lotus Notes server is backed up and may be recovered. Support for Lotus Notes is provided by Client Support.
