  • Blue Waters Student Internship Applications Due Feb. 1

    Blue Waters is one of the world's most powerful supercomputers, capable of performing quadrillions of calculations every second to tackle challenges in astrophysics, chemistry, biology and biomedicine, atmospheric science, and many other fields of research. To help prepare the next generation of supercomputing researchers, the Blue Waters project offers paid internships to undergraduate students across the country.

  • Innovation Lab to Demonstrate Innovative Technologies in the HSC Library Beginning Jan. 19

    Stony Brook's Innovation Lab will be staffing a table in the HSC Library beginning Jan. 19, through the end of Feburary, to demonstrate 3D printing and health-related models as well as other "DoIT Yourself" ideas. The 3D printers in Stony Brook University’s Innovation Lab are creating medical devices of the futureMedical Daily, which covers the latest health news, scientific trends, and medical information, recently visited the Lab and saw students creating prosthetics that would cost much less than those currently on the market. The Lab is featured in Medical Daily along with the following video.

  • Microsoft Ending Support for Older Versions of Internet Explorer on Jan. 12, 2016

    After January 12, 2016, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for older versions (anything below version 11) of Internet Explorer. Only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates. Internet Explorer 11 is the last version of Internet Explorer, and will continue to receive security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
